Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi stayed in contention on Wednesday and will compete in the tie-break alongside R Praggnanandhaa and P Harikrishna in the fourth round of the Chess World Cup here.

It was a relatively calm day in the knockout stage, as the two previous round winners, Levon Aronian from the United States and Joss Martinez Alcantara from Mexico, advanced to the fifth round, or pre-quarterfinals, by eliminating Radoslaw Wojtaszek of Poland and Alexey Sarana of Slovenia respectively, after drawing their games.
