It’s hard to fathom that people with power and wealth in this country would let ordinary Americans go hungry at Thanksgiving. But that is just what is happening. And it’s unconscionable.

During these tumultuous times when so many families are worried about a basic necessity like food, it is heartening to know many people of conscience, morality and faith are not content to let people suffer. They are stepping up to help.

As the president of the United States is demanding states not make up for federal cutbacks in funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), pastors, imams, Gov. Josh Shapiro and just plain folk are resisting evil and doing good.
