Police are searching for a driver who left after hitting an officer on detail at a New Hampshire construction site Wednesday.

The Derry police officer suffered a minor injury to his arm after being hit while he was directing traffic at 11:22 a.m. at the intersection of Chester Road and North Shore Road.

The passenger-side mirror of a maroon Subaru Forrester hit the officer, breaking the housing of the mirror.

Authorities said the driver paused briefly before continuing east down Chester Road.

Witnesses said the driver is an older woman with eyeglasses.

Police did not give any further description of the driver or vehicle.
