AIKEN, SC. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken’s Meals on Wheels program has raised half a million dollars in just one week as part of a campaign to create a sustainability fund.

The organization wants to double that amount before the next crisis hits, according to officials at Aiken Senior Life Services.

At Aiken Senior Life Services, seniors Pearl Turner and Sheila Smoak look forward to lunch from Meals on Wheels.

“It’s hard when you got a bunch of old folks ... but they put up with us and they’re really good. Really, I think we’re very appreciative to have them and have these meals too,” Turner said.
