COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested a man for allegedly physically abusing a child last Wednesday.

Garrett Scott Biering, 31, is charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm.

Biering allegedly struck a 4-year-old with an open palm on the right thigh three or more times, causing a large bruise to form on March 23, according to the affidavit. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office then requested SLED to investigate the incident. He also had custody of the child during the time of the incident.

He was booked into the Colleton County Detention Center.
