KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Petro’s Chili and Chips in Market Square will be closing for good at the end of the week.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said its doors will close for the final time on Nov. 14 at 3 p.m.

The closure is due to a 170% increase in rent and the company says it can’t afford to offset that increase while also investing in the Market Square location to make it profitable.

This isn’t the first Petro’s location to close in the area in recent months. According Alex Widmer, the company’s chief operating officer, locations in Powell, Clinton, Seymour and Oak Ridge all closed back in July , citing financial burden as the reasoning.
