KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The U.S. House of Representatives is debating a bill on Wednesday to reopen the government that would also fund the government through the end of January.
Members are expected to vote anytime after seven this evening.
The big question for most people is, 'When will they get their money?' For federal workers, that's their paychecks. For people on food stamps or WIC, those are the benefits they use to buy food.
East Tennessee Rep. Chuck Fleischmann said once all votes have taken place, Trump will need to sign the bill that will reopen the government.
Once that happens, people will still have to wait a little bit. It could take up to five days for paychecks to process for federal workers. Some of that does depend on the bank they use.
