A late-night pickup at an Albany County Taco Bell erupted into violence when a man and woman assaulted and stabbed store employees, police said.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, when officers responded to reports of an active fight with a stabbing at the Taco Bell at 56 Wolf Road in Colonie, according to Colonie Police.
Investigators determined that employees asked Ahmad Morton, 33, and Aryonna M. Rivera, 21, both of Schenectady, to show proof of ownership for multiple mobile food orders they were trying to collect.
The pair became confrontational and attacked the staff, ultimately stabbing workers during the struggle, police said.
The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by Colonie EMS.
Morton and Rivera fled in a white Mercedes just as officers arrived. Police attempted to stop the vehicle during a brief pursuit, but the pair abandoned the car near Central Avenue in the Village of Colonie, according to investigators.
A perimeter was set up, and both suspects were later found and arrested at the Days Inn at 1606 Central Avenue.
Morton is charged with five felonies, five misdemeanors, and eight vehicle and traffic violations. His top charges include first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, second-degree assault, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Rivera is charged with four felonies and two misdemeanors, with top counts including first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and second-degree assault.
Both defendants were arraigned in Colonie Town Court and remanded to the Albany County jail pending a preliminary hearing.
