EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — It’s Jameis time.
The Giants are naming Jameis Winston their starting quarterback for Sunday’s home game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.
The Daily News first reported the news of Winston’s promotion on ‘X’ Wednesday morning.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is in the concussion protocol, so new interim head coach Mike Kafka had a choice between Russell Wilson and Winston for his first game running the Giants (2-8).
Winston has been the Giants’ inactive, emergency third quarterback the entire season. Wilson started the first three games of the season and has been the backup No. 2 QB ever since.
But Wilson’s poor play in last Sunday’s collapse in Chicago made it clear that order had to change.
