HINDMAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The WYMT Don Franklin Athlete of the Week is senior running back and linebacker Shane Gibson from Knott Co. Central.

Gibson had a stellar performance in the Patriots 30-20 win against Shelby Valley in the first round of the Kentucky High School football playoffs, toting the rock 28 times, recording 230 yards and one touchdown.

“Well its one of the better ones [games] I’ve had,” Gibson said. “I had that big run. I’ve been out a few games this season and it just felt good to do good for a game - a special playoff win.”

What made the Patriots playoff game special was the fact that they were on the winning side of a postseason game for the first time in school history.

“I mean we put in so much work all four years and it’s led to this,” stated the senior running back.
