Residents across Illinois shared pictures online of dazzling colors painting the sky early Wednesday morning as the northern lights came into view .

Those who missed it may be able to view the phenomenon Wednesday night thanks to another powerful coronal mass ejection (CME) headed for Earth.

The northern lights arrived Nov. 11 after scientists with NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center discovered two CME's traveling at roughly 3-4 million mph toward our planet earlier this week.
