When we think of Thanksgiving, many of us picture large family dinners full of our favorite dishes and desserts. Others may think about the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade or football games. However, this year – more than ever – I think it’s important to focus on the true meaning of giving thanks and to teach our kids how we can be thankful for what we have and give to those who might be less fortunate.

While my family will be sitting around eating way too much turkey, stuffing and desserts, many families in the area may not have the same resources. For families like mine, this is a great opportunity to teach your children an important lesson about giving back to the community.
