FRANKFORT, Ky. — Drivers should expect some delays on I-71 in Louisville over the next few years as a $50 million project begins next week.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced Wednesday that the two-year project will increase capacity on I-71 from four lanes to six lanes. He said the widening project is necessary because I-71 is one of Louisville’s “most critical travel corridors.”
“This project along I-71 will make travel safer and more efficient for Kentucky families, visitors and businesses, while also supporting future growth in one of Louisville’s busiest corridors,” he explained.
The work zone will extend across a two-mile stretch of I-71, with construction expected to begin Monday, Nov. 17.
