In his new memoir, Sen. John Fetterman says he and Gov. Josh Shapiro are no longer on speaking terms because of friction that escalated when the two were on the state board of pardons five years ago.
Fetterman, then the lieutenant governor, wrote in “Unfettered” that he and Shapiro, then the attorney general, butted heads over commuting the sentences of two men to the point that Fetterman called Shapiro a “f—ing asshole” during a hearing and privately threatened to run for governor as Shapiro was planning to do, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer .
“I told him there were two tracks — that one and the one in which he ran for governor, and I ran for the Senate (which was the one I preferred),” wrote Fetterman. “I had no interest in friction, only in what I felt was justice.”
