Sometimes the worst thing about elections is that defeated candidates fade into the political shadows, taking with them the good ideas they offered and the issues they championed on the campaign trail.
Now that Detroit's mayoral race is decided, we hope that's not the case here.
Mary Sheffield was our preferred candidate in the contest, and she prevailed with a solid victory over the Rev. Solomon Kinloch, who was making his first bid for elected office.
