WASHINGTON — The House passed a spending resolution to reopen the government, overcoming the final hurdle to end the 43-day shutdown after weeks of fighting and a bipartisan standoff.
The spending resolution narrowly passed in a 222-209 vote mostly along party lines, barely overcoming the 217-vote majority threshold and paving the way for the package to be sent to President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature. The bill passed with mostly Republican support, but there were two defectors within the party who objected for different reasons.
