AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The city’s Park and Recreation Board voted to recommend the closure of two city pools due to deterioration and safety concerns.
The board recommended closing Southwest and Southeast pools, which have served the community since the late 1970s. The recommendation will go to the City Council for a final decision.
Infrastructure problems drive decision
During the meeting, board members heard updates on the pools including maintenance progress, operations improvements and upcoming enhancements.
City officials presented information about major issues with the facilities, including leaks and outdated equipment.
