The House voted Wednesday evening to pass the compromise Senate measure to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
The vote was 222-209, with six Democrats voting with the Republican majority.
President Donald Trump said he would sign the bill later Wednesday evening.
The legislation, which the Senate passed Monday night, was opposed by most House Democrats because it does not include a core demand: an extension to Affordable Care Act health care tax credits that are set to expire at the end of the year.
Earlier Wednesday, Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters, “We believe the long national nightmare will be over tonight.
“It was completely and utterly foolish and pointless.”
