The brother of the Chinese man who was found dead, hanging in a shower stall at a Pennsylvania ICE detention center expressed deep sorrow at the loss.

“I am devastated by the loss of my brother and by the knowledge that he was suffering so greatly in that detention center,” said Yanfeng Ge during an outdoor press conference held in Manhattan on Wednesday. “He did not deserve to be treated that way.”

On Aug. 5, Chaofeng Ge was found unresponsive in a shower stall at the ICE Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County. He was pronounced dead soon after.

Yanfeng Ge has filed a lawsuit against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, seeking information on the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death. The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, also names the U.S.
