The purple and gold may not have been the usual colors of his uniform, but Basalt High School celebrated him just the same on Wednesday.

Basalt senior Ian Westerman, an already highly decorated BMX rider, signed his letter of intent on National Signing Day to keep competing in the sport collegiately, wearing the blue of Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia, Kentucky. Westerman, having staked his own claim in the amateur ranks of the sport, joins a program that was a national runner-up in BMX this year.
