Cowboy Joe Week has officially begun at Abilene High School.
This unique AHS tradition, hosted by the yearbook team, has been going strong for 76 years.
Held during “Buffer Week,” the brief break between fall and winter sports, Cowboy Joe gives seniors a chance to celebrate school spirit and engage in friendly competition.
This year’s candidates are seniors Taygen Funston, Jalen Robinson, Jaxyn Summers, Aiden Woods, and Nolan Wilkins.
Before the start of the week, seniors vote for five senior boys to become the Cowboy Joe candidates.
Throughout the week, AHS students join in a series of fun events that switch things up, including Monday’s Extreme Volleyball tournament, where junior and senior boys form teams to compete; and Tuesday’s Powder Puff football game, where junior and senior
