HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Chef Chai was shut down Wednesday after health investigators said its new owner lacked a valid permit.
The restaurant, located at 1009 Kapiolani Blvd., is now owned by Pomaikai Culinary Group, LLC.
The state Department of Health conducted a routine inspection and found that the company does not have a valid food establishment permit, said officials.
Chef Chai received a red placard, which health officials post when they observe a critical violation.
The owner must apply for a food establishment permit, and it must be approved before the restaurant can reopen, said officials.
