GALVESTON
The world’s largest cruise ship is coming to Texas. Royal Caribbean International announced Wednesday Icon of the Seas will begin sailing from the Port of Galveston in August 2027.
The ship’s Texas debut is part of Royal Caribbean’s 2027–2028 vacation lineup, which will include new itineraries from Galveston, California and the Northeast.
Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas will be one of the largest cruise ships ever to call on Texas, measuring 1,196 feet long and 219 feet wide, with a draft of 29 feet. The 248,663-gross-ton vessel features 20 total decks, including 18 dedicated to guests, and carries 5,610 passengers at double occupancy in 2,805 staterooms. The ship is operated by an international crew of about 2,350.
