QUINCY (WGEM) - On Wednesday, a relic of Quincy’s history was demolished, the original Tony’s restaurant.
On Hampshire and North Eighth streets, “Tony’s Old Place” was the spot for many to eat at for more than 29 years.
The building had a long history with restaurants.
In the 1960’s, the original restaurant, Peacock Pizzeria, was the first in that location.
When Tony’s Old Place closed in 2009, it lived on at the “Tony’s Too” restaurant. But even as it moved to new management, those who created the staple restaurant still remember it’s impact.
“Everybody’s been to Tony’s, everybody’s got a Tony’s story. From back when it was Peacock Pizzeria, to when it was Tony’s Old Place, and on to Tony’s Too. It’s kind of been an icon in the area, I think, since the 60’s” said Glenn Swick, former
