TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new way to cycle is now officially possible in Tucson, as a first-of-its-kind velodrome opened Wednesday night on the southeast side.
“This is like riding a roller coaster, like, you go up, you go down, you go up, you go down. It’s not like line riding in a straight ride, and there’s so much of a dynamic out there,” Master Track Elite Racer Karl Baumgart said.
The thrill of competitive racing changed Baumgart’s life.
“You feel like a kid again, like I’m in my 50s,” he said. “I still feel like a kid when I’m on the track.”
Now with the opening of Tucson Velodrome, he believes others’ lives will soon change, too.
