Neither Penn State nor Michigan State has won a football game since Sept. 13. Neither of them has won a Big Ten game, either.
Those trends will mercifully come to an end for one of the two this weekend, as the Nittany Lions and Spartans square off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in East Lansing.
Michigan State’s most recent loss came 23-20 at the hands of Minnesota. Second-year coach Jonathan Smith has an uncertain quarterback situation on his hands, as Alessio Milivojevic took the start against the Golden Gophers, but Aidan Chiles was the guy coming into the year.
The Spartans have a pair of standout skill players in running back Makhi Frazier and wide receiver Nick Marsh. Their defense, however, is among the nation’s worse at defending the pass and has allowed 31.4 points per game.
