What began with Jaish-e-Mohammed posters in Srinagar led police to Imam Irfan Ahmad Wagay — an alleged recruiter who misused prayer sessions to radicalise doctors and medical students. Investigators say Irfan and Dr Umar un Nabi, the suspected Red Fort bomber, were part of encrypted Telegram groups pushing global jihad narratives. A massive crackdown followed, with raids at over 200 locations across Kulgam, Sopore, Anantnag and Shopian targeting Jamaat-e-Islami operatives. Digital devices, documents and communication logs have been seized as agencies uncover a sophisticated radicalisation network linking Kashmir to the Delhi blast.
