Kolkata: India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has spoken about the absence of senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, which begins on November 14 at Eden Gardens.

India will be without one of their most experienced pacers, with Shami ruled out of the series. Gill acknowledged the void left by the veteran seamer but emphasized the importance of adaptability and forward planning as the team prepares to face the reigning World Test Champions.

“There aren’t many bowlers of Shami bhai’s calibre,” Gill remarked, praising the veteran’s skill and consistency.
