With Sam Houston playing football games 70 miles from campus, it isn’t quite the return to familiar ground Delaware coach Ryan Carty and several staffers expected.

Renewing acquaintance with the Bearkats will still harbor personal joy along with the potential for dread that any road game brings.

This one is Nov. 15 in Houston, not Huntsville, and it comes against a Sam Houston team not enjoying a typically stellar season.

Carty was offensive coordinator for Sam Houston when it won the 2021 spring NCAA FCS title. This year the Bearkats are coming off their first win in nine games and are winless in five Conference USA bouts.
