The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained a senior cardiologist from Kanpur in connection with the Delhi blast case. Arif, who hails from Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, is suspected to have links with individuals involved in anti-national activities.

According to preliminary investigations, Dr Mohammad Arif has been in contact for a long time with Shaheen Shahid, a 43-year-old medical professional once posted in Kanpur and one of the key accused in the Delhi Blast case after authorities busted an interstate terror network in Faridabad. Arif has also been in touch with Shaheen’s brother, Dr Parvez Ansari, arrested by the UP ATS and under scrutiny for alleged terror links.
