A recent study by the Indiana Gaming Commission listed Indianapolis as one of the top spots to relocate a struggling southern Indiana casino. It’s understandable why some local officials in Indianapolis like the idea. It’s another potential revenue source at a time when budgets are tight thanks to the state’s property tax cuts . Plus, the roads in Indianapolis have enough potholes to prompt hundreds of claims against the city for vehicle damage every year. The problem is, whatever meager benefits gambling provides pale in comparison to the harm it causes low-income residents. The best route would be to either keep the casino where it is or eliminate it.
