Responding to concerns raised by the father of late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal that his son was being unfairly blamed for the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, the Centre on Thursday told the Supreme Court that “no blame has been attributed to anyone.”
Appearing before a Bench led by Justice Surya Kant, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the Civil Aviation Ministry had already issued a press note clarifying that no individual was being held responsible for the crash.
Addressing pleas for an independent investigation, Mehta submitted that “any interference by anyone will be counterproductive to the ongoing investigation.” He explained that a statutory and internationally recognised process exists for probing such incidents under the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which function
