Firefighters in Somerset County battled a fast-moving blaze that ripped through a repair shop early Thursday, forcing the temporary closure of a major roadway.
According to preliminary reports, emergency crews were dispatched to 2045 NJ-27 shortly before 1:45 a.m. after multiple callers reported a structure fire.
Arriving units found heavy flames pouring from the repair shop.
Firefighters quickly stretched several hose lines to attack the blaze and requested utility crews to shut down gas and electric service to the building for safety.
NJ-27 was closed in both directions while firefighters worked to contain the fire.
Crews brought the blaze under control in roughly 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.
