The longest shutdown in U.S. history is... well, history, after 43 days, and after all the travel delays, benefit questions, employee furloughs and general consternation, you might be wondering what happens now.

When does the federal government officially reopen?
It officially reopened when President Donald Trump signed the continuing resolution, or "CR" in congressional-speak that the U.S. House passed 222-209 on Nov. 12 and the Senate passed two days before that. Trump signed the CR at about 10:25 p.m., a couple of hours after the vote.
