Ozzy Osbourne's family have revealed that he was secretly hospitalised two weeks before his last concert.
In the first episode of The Osbournes Podcast since Ozzy's death, the rocker's widow Sharon Osbourne and children Jack and Kelly Osbourne reminisced about Ozzy's health battles, his final show in Birmingham in July, and his death 17 days later at the age of 76.
They revealed that the Black Sabbath rocker was hospitalised two weeks before the concert, and they were "terrified" that the public would find out, so they took big steps to keep the news a secret.
"So we had all the security and the hospital - the hospital was amazing, they really were - the people at the front desk were told, 'Nobody, if they ask for Ozzy, he's not here. Nobody's allowed up,' all of that," Sharon recalled. "They had pictures of all of us who were allowed up, and names, and this guy comes up and says, 'I want to see John Osbourne (Ozzy's legal name)' so of course there's a red light and they go, 'Who are you?' and he goes, 'I'm his brother.'"
Sharon was convinced the man was a reporter pretending to be Ozzy's brother because they hadn't told the musician's siblings about his latest hospitalisation.
"So I sent security down and I said, 'Find out who this guy is, he's definitely from the press,'" she continued. "They're not the most polite in the world; they're the most threatening. This guy kept saying, 'He's my brother, he knows I'm coming.' After harassing this poor man, (they found out) there was (another) John Osbourne in the hospital, and it was his brother. We felt so terrible."
They did not divulge why Ozzy was hospitalised on that occasion.
The Crazy Train hitmaker experienced several health setbacks in recent years, including a series of surgeries on his spine after a 2019 fall. He was also diagnosed with Parkinson's disease that year.
