Pakistan’s federal cabinet will meet on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take up a crucial agenda focused on national security, counterterrorism, and the country’s fragile relations with the Afghan Taliban regime, top government sources confirmed to CNN-News18.

The high-level session, described by officials as a “security and strategic apex meeting", comes amid a surge in Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacks and escalating tension along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

Sources said the meeting will deliberate on how to deal with the rising terrorism threat and Pakistan’s policy toward Kabul, following repeated border clashes and militant infiltration.
