The Mountain Brook City Council voted Monday, November 10, to appoint Maretta Ashford to Place 1, the seat vacated by Mayor Graham Smith. Ashford was sworn in on Wednesday morning and will serve the remainder of Smith's term, ending in November 2027.
"Maretta Ashford is a tireless and seasoned volunteer for our City. I have personally worked with her on many projects and have the utmost confidence in her ability to serve," Smith told 1819 News.
"I am truly honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve on the City Council. It is a privilege to work alongside such a wonderful group of City Council members, all of our dedicated city staff, and all within our community. I'm excited to get to work, ready to listen to what is important to you, your family, and overall help continue moving
