The University of Saskatchewan Huskies ran around Griffiths Stadium late Wednesday afternoon, tossing balls, hollering, getting their bodies warm for football.

Tailback Ryker Frank turned his back to all that. He had a job to do first. And so he addressed a line of reporters and cameras, answering questions about his close friend and roommate Anton Amundrud, who has been diagnosed with a form of cancer called lymphoma and is currently in the fight of his life.

“He’s stubborn,” Frank said of the 23-year-old Amundrud, who is one of the country’s best collegiate quarterbacks. “He’s a really stubborn guy, and that’s going to help him with this. Just visiting him in the hospital, he was saying ‘pump me full of the harshest chemicals you’ve got.’
