Major works to improve safety and the flow of traffic at one of Surf Coast Highway’s busiest intersections finally wrapped up last week.
The intersection, at the Reserve Road and Felix Street in Grovedale, has been fitted with new traffic lights to assist drivers turning right from side roads and for pedestrians crossing the highway.
The signals are connected to the nearby Grovedale CFA fire station, allowing emergency vehicles to enter the highway safely and quickly.
About 29,000 vehicles travel this section of the Surf Coast Highway every day, and the upgrades are expected to reduce queuing in the middle of the dual highway and prevent vehicles blocking through-traffic.
