(WKYT) - In the lead-up to America turning 250 years old, we are looking back every day at ‘This Day In History.’

On this date in 1999, “Toy Story 2″ premiered in the U.S.

The sequel to the 1995 film, “Toy Story,” was directed by John Lasseter and starred Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

During it’s first 12 days in theaters, “Toy Story 2″ grossed about $117 million domestically.

The main 4 films in the Toy Story franchise have grossed over $3 billion worldwide.

This week, the trailer for “Toy Story 5″ was released. The movie is set to come out June 2026.
