PHOENIX — Hundreds are expected to come together in Phoenix on Nov. 15 and raise awareness for a devastating issue in our community. The powerful event was started to remember friends and family members whose lives were cut short by drug overdoses.

Peggy Hernandez is a lead case manager at Crossroads Inc., a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center in the Valley. Hernandez said she's also 20 years sober. While she serves Arizonans at the treatment center daily, Hernandez knows the devastating effects addiction can have on a family.

She has faced back-to-back unimaginable losses.

“I lost two of my children to substance abuse, as well as my son-in-law to substance abuse,” Hernandez said.
