PORTLAND, Maine — Despite the reopening of the federal government on Wednesday night, an updated emergency order was issued to airports, freezing flight reductions at 6% until further notice.

On Nov. 7, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would limit air traffic at 40 of the larger airports. This move was made after Duffy said a significant number of traffic control workers were not showing up for work due to the shutdown and because they were not being paid.

The Portland Jetport has nonstop connections to 15 markets and has been impacted by the flight reductions, officials say.
