The Congress in Tamil Nadu appeared to be warming up to actor Vijay’s TVK, with senior state leaders reportedly attempting to convince the party high command to leverage his popularity in Kerala and Puducherry ahead of the elections, said sources.

The party also reportedly wanted a larger share of seats to contest in Tamil Nadu, even as its closeness with TVK drew attention within the ruling alliance.

The DMK was said to be aware of the Congress–TVK equation turning increasingly comfortable.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin even hinted at strains within the alliance, mentioning the ‘hand leaving’ while sharing the stage with a Congress MP.
