GRAND FORKS — One of the NoDak Sens is set to stay in Ottawa for a while.

Shane Pinto has signed a four-year, $30-million contract with the Ottawa Senators. The deal takes him through the 2029-30 season.

Pinto was set to be a restricted free agent at the end of this season.

The former UND center is off to a strong start this season. He has eight goals and 14 points in 17 games for Ottawa, where he plays alongside two of his former North Dakota teammates in Jake Sanderson and Tyler Kleven.

"Shane is an important part of our core and we are pleased to have him with us for the foreseeable future," Senators general manager Steve Staios said in a statement. "This is a great opportunity for this group to grow together."
