Bird flu has been confirmed at a chicken farm in South Lanarkshire . ‌

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was discovered at Whitelees Poultry Farm in Cleghorn, Lanark. ‌

The Scottish Government confirmed the outbreak on Wednesday, November 12. ‌

The flu is currently taking hold, or has taken hold in the last 56 days at least, on the premises, according to the Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland. The Officer has informed Scottish Ministers of the outbreak .

The outbreak is contained within a 3km Protection Zone, which is a mandatory area where stricter biosecurity measures are enforced to control the spread of avian influenza (bird flu), and a 10km Surveillance Zone.
