ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A two-week law enforcement operation targeting child exploitation entitled Operation Ghost Wire in Alamance, Randolph, and Forsyth counties resulted in 23 arrests and the rescue of four children from ongoing abuse, according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.

The operation was conducted from October 13–24, 2024, and combined cyber tip investigations with proactive undercover chats. One week of the operation focused primarily on Alamance County.

Deputies said those arrested either traveled intending to engage in sexual contact with a minor, solicited sexual contact from someone they believed to be a minor, or were uploading or downloading child sexual abuse material.
