LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Through December 6, Husker students and fans can help save lives while supporting the university’s efforts to win $1 million.

The ‘We Give Blood’ competition among all 18 Big Ten schools is underway, and so far, Nebraska is almost in the lead, but they need your help.

As of Wednesday morning, Nebraska is in second place, just behind Wisconsin.

Nebraska won the inaugural ‘We Give Blood’ competition last year and the $1 million prize.

“I think anyone who’s gone to school here knows how much Nebraska cares,” said Ellen Wichman, who works for Abbott, the organization that created the drive.

Wichman, who is also a Nebraska alum, said that care often goes beyond football and other sports.
