WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Wednesday night that he will bring a bill to release the Jeffrey Epstein files to a vote on the floor next week.
"We are going to put that on the floor for a full vote next week, as soon as we get back," Johnson said. "In the meantime, I'll remind everybody the Oversight Committee has been working around the clock, even through the government shutdown, for maximum transparency. And, full disclosure, as we have all been for since the very beginning."
The vote comes after Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna led an effort to gather signatures for what's known as a discharge petition, forcing a vote on compelling the Justice Department to release all the Epstein files.
