The visit to an Irish-language elementary school in Dublin was the first official engagement of President Connolly’s tenure since her inauguration as the tenth president of Ireland on Tuesday.
During her visit, Ms Connolly, who learnt Irish as an adult, said Gaelscoil Inse Chór, located in the Irish National War Memorial Gardens, was an “exemplary school”.
Students made Tricolour flags in preparation for the President’s visit, to decorate the guard of honour for her arrival, along with coloured pictures of Ms Connolly.
