ADRIAN — John R. Skelton, the father of three boys who disappeared in November, 2010, on Wednesday was charged with three counts of homicide open murder and three counts of tampering with evidence.
Skelton, 53, is serving a 15-year prison sentence for failing to give the boys back to their mother in November, 2010. He was due to be released around Thanksgiving.
In March, a probate judge declared Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner Skelton dead but stopped short of ruling that their father had murdered the boys.
Judge Catherine A. Sala declared the boys deceased as of Nov. 26, 2015, partially granting a petition filed by their mother, Tanya Zuvers. Ms. Zuvers had also asked the court to rule that their deaths came at the hands of their father, Skelton.
